One feature that a lot of users rely on with our current IM solution is to be able to add offline users to group chats.  I am testing that feature now and it appears that although I can have a 1 on 1 IM with an offline user, I cannot add any offline users to a group chat.  Is there a way to enable this?

In our company there are times where users are traveling from one site to another so they will sign off temporarily, drive to another location, and log back into IM on a different computer.  (many times they return to a group chat they need to respond to)

Is there any way to enable this server side?

You can chat with Offline Users in a Group through Chat Room. It is also a type of Group Chat helps to chat with your colleagues whom with you chat frequently.

All chat conversation will be stored in Chat Room. Conversations done while we are offline, can also be viewed. You can refer the following page for more details.

Hope this helps you.

I don't think this option would work.  I could deal with it this way but 400 end users who are not as computer savvy will not like it.  I was hoping disabling offline users from being put in a separate group would resolve it but for example, if you message an entire group it does not include the person or two out of that group who are offline at that given moment. (Our current solution allows this which they are used to but the software is heavily outdated and yours is steadily updated and feature rich)

When I manually try to add an offline user to a group chat, they don't show up in the list.  When I drag a user on top of a group chat to add them in, it appears like it is going to let them be added, however they are not.

Is there any way to enable this functionality?  It would be huge in terms of usability for us.

*Just like this, where you can see gray status offline users on the left (available to add them in), but in a group chat instead of a chat room.

You folks are awesome!  I will keep testing with the handful of users I have selected and will then test out the offline user capability once you say it is ready.  After that I think we are ready to buy the 500 user license and roll this out.  (the custom MSI is going to come in handy for this)

One small question.  Is there any way to set a quota for the size of attachments?  It's not a big issue but just something a colleague was curious about.

Thanks again!

I just tested this and here is my feedback, everything works except for one tiny issue that I'll explain.

Adding users of mixed status' to a group chat works perfect (online & offline users).  The online users have the ability to add offline users now & when those offline users sign in they see the group chat open up on their screen.  I can't thank you enough for adding this functionality! :D

I did find one small bug and can replicate it.

I will use an example of a simple 3 user group chat.

If I start a group chat with 3 users who's current status is "Online", and one of the Online users leaves the group chat, I can re-add them and they are allowed to see the chat contents and type in a reply without issue to continue on in the chat.  The window to type in is white and they have the option bar to change font, add attachment etc.

If I start a group chat with 3 users and say one of the users are "Offline", when they sign on they are able to see the current group chat and reply which is good.  The problem I encountered is if that user leaves and I re-add them.  They can then view the chat but cannot type or reply to the conversation.  The normally white window is gray/tan and does not allow the user to click within to type a reply.  We did test attaching an image and using the buzz feature and the user can still use those features. (I have included a small screen clip of what it looks like from their side)  I was able to repeat this only when the user's original status was Offline from when they were added to the group chat.  Hopefully my log of how to repeat it helps with the solution.

I understand this is a completely new feature but I think once this small thing is worked out I am pretty much ready for purchase/deployment.  :)

Thank you again!

Sorry, we have not been able to replicate the issue. Group Chat with Offline Users works fine as we expect.

FYI: We don’t allow to type the user in the Chat Window, when all persons (except that user) left out from the ongoing Group Chat. Hope, you are pointing this situation. Hence, please ensure the users in the Group Chat and try again.

And we should restrict the user to transfer files & send buzz when he is only in the Group Chat. We will do it and provide you that change with our upcoming version release.

Hope this helps you.
